Mauricio Pochettino to make Harry Kane a transfer priority at Newcastle United

According to Spanish publication Todofichajes (h/t Daily Star), former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino will make Harry Kane a transfer priority if he takes over at Newcastle United.

The Argentine is widely touted as being close to agreeing to replace Steve Bruce at St. James’ Park should the £300million takeover of the Tyneside club be confirmed. This will see him return to the Premier League less than a year after being sacked by Spurs.

According to the report, he is edging closer to Newcastle, with an agreement between himself and the club practically agreed.

If the move does go through, Pochettino is keen to raid Tottenham for ace striker Kane. The star striker is one of the best players on the market. Signing him would be a massive show of statement by the Magpies.

Kane flourished under the Argentine during his five-and-a-half-year stint in North London. Pochettino built his attack around the England skipper, helping him improve his game.

Kane admitted earlier this season that he could look to leave Tottenham if the club’s progress was not to his satisfaction.

Although the striker’s sentiments are understandable, why he would want to go to Newcastle is debatable. The Magpies are not in a position to give him a better opportunity to win trophies.

While being bankrolled by Saudi billionaires does lend them enough power, whether it can be properly utilized into a viable model is yet to be seen.
