Tottenham Hotspur preparing a lucrative contract for Ryan Fraser
According to Football Insider (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur are readying a new contract for Scotland international Ryan Fraser.
The Bournemouth star will be a free agent this summer. Given the financial crisis gripping clubs, obtaining a player of his experience and quality will be a coup for the club.
The opportunity has not been lost on our rivals either. Spurs are currently competing against a number of clubs to land the coveted 26-year-old.
In spite of garnering interest from the likes of Arsenal and Crystal Palace, he is believed to favour a move to Tottenham. If that is truly the case, the ball is now in our court.
According to the report, Daniel Levy is already on the case and is busy drafting a lucrative contract to lure Fraser to North London.
Bournemouth have not been able to tie Fraser down to a new deal yet. The Cherries have not given up hope of persuading him to sign an extension on his current deal but risk losing him for nothing. The midfielder has made 32 appearances for this season and has scored one goal and registered four assists.
Spurs have endured a disappointing season so far. The club also face an uphill task in qualifying for the Champions League. Missing out on the lucrative competitions will only add to our woes.
With a return to the top four a priority, certain positions will need to be reinforced. Doing so on a budget will test our recruitment skills. Fraser has been with Bournemouth for over seven years. Till date, he has notched up over 200 appearances for the Cherries, bagging 24 goals and 33 assists.
