Tottenham Hotspur offered another shot at Matias Vecino

According to the Daily Star, Tottenham hotspur have been offered the chance to sign Inter Milan star Matias Vecino.

The 28-year-old Uruguayan made the move to the San Siro from Fiorentina in 2017. He has since made 94 appearances for the Nerazzurri and has scored 11 goals and 6 assists for the club. (h/t Transfermarkt)

The South-American’s name came up in talks between the clubs over Christian Eriksen in January. However, a move failed to materialize. Now back on the market, he has also attracted interest from Everton and Arsenal.

According to the report, Jose Mourinho is an admirer of the player. The Portuguese could be tempted to move for the 28-year-old, who is a regular for his country.

Intermediaries have since been in touch with Tottenham to assess their interest. The club is currently considering making a move.

Midfield is an area that needs reinforcement this summer. With Eric Dier expected to be moved into defence, there is a slot open in the Tottenham midfield.

Vecino is under contract at the San Siro until 2023. He has played 23 games for Inter this campaign and has scored three goals and one assist. However, he has fallen down the pecking order under Antonio Conte. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Tottenham will, however, not enter a bidding war for the player. Money is at a premium and the club cannot afford to spend over the means. It is a fact Mourinho is aware of.

Given that Arsenal and Everton are eyeing other targets, we could get a free run at the player. He is rated at £18million.
