Harry Kane sends out warning to top four rivals ahead of Premier League return

The Premier League had been suspended since March due to the coronavirus. The English top-flight is set for a restart from June 17 though. Spurs will resume their campaign against fellow top-four hopefuls Manchester United on Friday.

Tottenham are 8th in the Premier League table currently, seven points below 4th-placed Chelsea. The club has nine games to finish in the top four and secure Champions League football for next season.

Ahead of the game, Kane sent out a warning to United and other top four hopefuls that the fact Spurs are competing only in the Premier League means that they will be more focused and have an edge on their rivals. (h/t Sky Sports)

“From our point of view we are not in any of the other competitions so we have got nine games to concentrate on picking up as many points and try and get into the Champions League spots. So at least all our focus is going to be on one competition.”

Indeed, we will be playing just in the Premier League, having been knocked out of Europe and the domestic cup competitions. On the other hand, Manchester United will be competing in the league, FA Cup as well as the Europa League, while Chelsea are in the FA Cup and Champions League.

In addition, sixth-placed Wolves are still alive in the Europa League. Whereas Sheffield United, in seventh place, will continue in the FA Cup.

With Spurs’ focus singularly on the Premier League, it ought to give the team a slight edge over the rivals. Furthermore, the return of our injured stars such as Kane himself, along with Son Heung-min and Moussa Sissoko should provide us with a major boost in the final run-in.
