Tottenham submit enquiry for on-loan Real Madrid star Achraf Hakimi
According to a report from 90min.com (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur have submitted an enquiry for Real Madrid defender Achraf Hakimi, who is currently out on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
Hakimi has been at Dortmund since 2018, having joined on a two-year loan deal. The Moroccan international has excelled during his time at the club, establishing himself as one of the most coveted defenders in Europe. In 2019/20, the right-back has bagged nine goals and ten assists in 42 games.
With his loan spell on the verge of expiry, Hakimi will be returning to Real Madrid. And a number of clubs, including Tottenham, have launched an enquiry over the availability of the 21-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window.
It goes without saying that Tottenham are in need of a new right-back, after having let Kieran Trippier go last summer without signing a replacement. And, Hakimi, given his development over the past couple of seasons would be a fine signing indeed.
However, it does seem a tad unlikely that Real Madrid would want to let him go, especially considering Dani Carvajal’s declining prowess this season. Irrespective of that, Tottenham have submitted an enquiry and this got the club’s supporters talking on social media.
