Jose Mourinho interested in signing Chelsea star Olivier Giroud
According to an exclusive report from the Express, Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho remains interested in signing Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud in the summer transfer window.
Giroud has been linked with a move to Tottenham since the January transfer window. Rumours had died down of late following his one-year contract extension at the club. However, Chelsea’s potential signing of Timo Werner this summer has led to Tottenham believing that they can sign Giroud. (h/t Express)
The report states that Chelsea might look to offload him in order to balance their books, with a £7m transfer fee being mentioned. This has, seemingly, put Mourinho on alert, as Tottenham look to bolster the attacking department in the summer.
Giroud, 33, has been in the Premier League for almost a decade and is a proven goalscorer. However, the Frenchman has hardly been involved over the course of the 2019/20 campaign under Frank Lampard. The 2018 World Cup winner with France has featured just 13 times in all competitions, scoring three goals, one of which came against us.
Given the lack of backup option for Harry Kane at our club, a new striker should be a top priority for Mourinho & co. However, fans don’t seem to be sold on the idea of signing Giroud to provide cover for the England captain. Here’s how some of the supporters reacted to the news that Mourinho was still keen on the 33-year-old.

If we actually PAY chels for this guy to fund there move for Werner whilst we get giroud, then levy is further showing his ineptitude in the transfer market both with incomings and outgoings

Can’t imagine him in a Spurs uniform. But Jose did it, so nothing is really surprising anymore.
But, as you said, selling to rivals, Chelsea would want a ridiculous price for him, and Levy would only say move the “ decimal point” over about 4-5 places. Then maybe they talk??
