Tottenham target Nathan Ferguson will leave West Bromwich Albion
West Bromwich Albion youngster Nathan Ferguson, who is a target for Tottenham, will leave the club at the end of the month, when his contract runs out, sporting director Luke Dowling has confirmed.
A product of the West Brom academy, the 19-year-old Ferguson has been with the club since 2009. Having made his first-team debut in August 2019, he has featured 21 times for the Baggies this term, scoring and assisting one goal each.
A versatile operator, Ferguson can play as a centre-back or slot in as a full-back on both right and left sides. The teenage defender’s contract with the Hammers is set to run out at the end of the month. And the club’s director, Dowling, has confirmed that he has turned down a lucrative new deal and will be leaving on June 30. (h/t wba.co.uk)
“We have made what can only be considered a very attractive offer to Nathan. But he intends to pursue his career elsewhere. It’s a disappointment for everyone here but it is the player’s prerogative.”
This development ought to come as a boost for Tottenham, who have expressed an interest in the youngster. (h/t Football.london)
Given Ferguson’s ability to slot in multiple positions in the backline, his signing would definitely come in handy for our club. Tottenham, at the moment, are lacking adequate cover in both the full-back slots. The centre-back department has also been misfiring for most of the season.
