Jose Mourinho denies rift with Tottenham star Tanguy Ndombele
As reported by the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has dismissed rumours of a fallout between himself and midfield star Tanguy Ndombele.
Speculations have been rife that all is not well between the pair for some time now. It was even reported that Ndombele had vowed to never play for the Portuguese, having not been involved in the two matches since the restart of the season.
Mourinho, though, has denied rumours of the rift, claiming that there is always drama created when a big player is left out on the bench, but the reality is far from it. (h/t Daily Star)
“At Tottenham I feel is every time a top player is on the bench, it’s a drama. The players and everybody else have to understand it’s not a drama. No problem with Tanguy, no story. We are a big club with very talented players.”
The Tottenham boss cited examples of clubs across Europe where top players had to be benched every now and then. He then went on to claim that Ndombele can turn his fortunes around, comparing him to former Spurs star Luka Modric, who had endured a difficult phase when he switched to Real Madrid.
“I believe Ndombele can turn it around. Football is full of players who have made difficult starts and then ended well. When Modric arrived at Real Madrid, after six months he was labelled the worst signing in their history. So when the talent is there many things can happen with adaptation.”

Hopefully, that puts an end to the stories that are flying around. Ndombele has had a difficult start to life at Tottenham, there’s no denying that. But at the same time, there is no denying the talent he possesses. Let’s hope he and Mourinho can work together for the best of the club in the coming weeks.
