Tottenham had a goal chalked off by VAR against Sheffield United

Tottenham Hotspur’s game against Sheffield United did not get off to the best start with the hosts taking the lead. It was a poor bit of defensive play to allow Sander Berge so much time and room to shoot from within the box.

However, immediately after, Spurs thought they had equalized as Harry Kane found the back of the net with a scuffed left-footed strike.

But a VAR check followed and shockingly, the goal was chalked off for a handball by Lucas Moura in the buildup.

If anything, the Brazilian had been manhandled and brought to the ground by the Sheffield United players and the ball ricocheted off a part of his arm when he wasn’t even looking at it. It wasn’t even clear if it struck his arm or his shoulder.

It was an appalling bit of a call from the VAR, which left our manager Jose Mourinho furious on the touchline. Fans, too, were disgruntled by the decision and vented out their frustrations on social media. Here are some of the reactions from the fans on the controversial call.
