According to a report from Corriere Dello Sport (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose, who is currently out on loan at Newcastle United, has emerged as a summer transfer target for Serie A giants Lazio.

The left-back, who turned 30 years old earlier this month, has been with Tottenham since 2007, having signed from Leeds. During his time at the club, Rose grew into one of the best left-backs in England, becoming a regular for club and country.

However, things hadn’t been all too well between the defender and the club of late. This led to attempts to offload him last summer. While a move failed to materialise back then, he was sparingly used in the first-team, before eventually being loaned out to Newcastle United in January.

The 30-year-old entering the final year of his contract with Tottenham. So, it seems almost a certainty that he will be sold in the upcoming transfer window. And, Lazio, have emerged as one of the potential suitors for the 27-time capped England international, as per the report.

It further claims that the Serie A outfit, who are mounting a surprise push for the league title this term, have already made contact with Rose’s agents over the possibility of a summer move.

Rose, though, seems to have his heart set on a permanent transfer to Newcastle. Since joining the Magpies earlier this year, the 30-year-old has featured nine times. It is understood that the club do not have an option of making the loan deal permanent.

Till date, Rose has featured 214 times for Tottenham across all competitions, scoring ten goals. It is all but certain that he will not be a Spurs’ player next term. But it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
