Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho hits back at rivals Arsenal
As reported by Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has hit back at arch rivals Arsenal over a social media post the Gunners made after Spurs’ defeat to Sheffield United, which was in poor taste.
Last Thursday saw Tottenham get beaten 3-1 by Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in the Premier League. Arsenal, who had defeated the Blades 2-1 in a FA Cup encounter the previous week, decided to poke fun at Spurs, posting the highlights of their win at, with the caption: “It’s not easy beating Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.”
Mourinho did not take the mocking too well and hit out at Arsenal, claiming that it says more about their club. He further added that they wouldn’t take joy from others struggles if they themselves were in a good position. (h/t Sky Sports)
“I think if they were top of the league or fighting for top four in a really good moment they wouldn’t enjoy the problems of others. You only enjoy the problems of others when you are also in trouble. In the end it says more about them, they don’t have much to celebrate, they have to get every opportunity to do it.”
Mourinho has always had a bitter rivalry with Arsenal, going back to the days when he used to take digs at Arsene Wenger. With him now at Tottenham, the rivalry is only likely to multiply further.
