Tottenham interested in Newcastle United’s Allan Saint-Maximin
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in making a swoop for Newcastle United’s tricky winger Allan Saint-Maximin this summer.
The 23-year-old Saint-Maximin came through the youth ranks at AS Saint-Etienne and had stints at Monaco, Hannover, Bastia, before joining OGC Nice. He stayed at the club for two years, before signing for Newcastle last summer.
And the former French U21 international has made quite the impression in his debut season in England. Till date, the winger has featured 26 times across all competitions, scoring four goals and setting up seven more.
His exploits have seemingly put the winger on the radars of a number of clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur. The 2019/20 campaign has been a difficult one for Spurs, with the club in transition from the managerial change.
While things seemed to have improved once Jose Mourinho took over, things have hit a brick wall since the turn of the year. We have registered just one win in nine matches in all competitions. So, it goes without saying that the squad will need some strengthening over the summer.
A new winger might not be high priority at the moment. But should Saint-Maximin be made available for a transfer, the club should pounce. The 23-year-old has done very well in the Premier League so far and would add more threat and ingenuity to our attack going forward.
The report adds that meeting Newcastle’s asking price might be a touch problematic for Spurs. However, the club are prepared to allow the likes of Danny Rose and Juan Foyth move the other way in order to sign the Frenchman.

However, Tottenham will have to battle PSG in the race for the Newcastle United winger. It is claimed that the French champions have been monitoring the winger since his time with Nice.
Should they make a move for Saint-Maximin, then it is unlikely that our club will be able to match up with their financial clout.
