Barcelona approach Tottenham for Tanguy Ndombele and Ryan Sessegnon

According to an exclusive report from the Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick, La Liga champions Barcelona have made an approach to Tottenham over the possibility of signing Tanguy Ndombele and Ryan Sessegnon in part-exchange deals.

Both Ndombele and Sessegnon arrived at Tottenham last summer, but haven’t been able to establish themselves are regulars in the first-team. Injuries have had a huge role in their struggles in 2019/20. However, the duo have seen little to no game time since the resumption of the season last month.

Sessegnon last played for Spurs in our last match prior to lockdown. Despite being fit and available, the Englishman has been overlooked by manager Jose Mourinho, dropping him completely from the 20-man matchday squads in the last two matches. In fact, teenage academy prospect Dennis Cirkin was preferred over him for the Everton clash.

The report states that Sessegnon has grown frustrated by the lack of opportunities, especially after being hailed by the manager in the recent past.

As far as Ndombele is concerned, the midfielder has seen just 19 minutes of action since the resumption of the season, which came from the bench in the defeat to Sheffield United. The Frenchman has reportedly fallen out with Mourinho and is open to leaving the club this summer. (h/t Evening Standard)

While Mourinho has dismissed speculations of a rift, things don’t seem okay. This has alerted Barcelona, who are now eyeing summer swoops for both Ndombele and Sessegnon.

Barcelona have been left cash-strapped due to the coronavirus pandemic, much like our club. As a result, they are looking at player-plus-cash exchange deals for both the Tottenham stars. (h/t Evening Standard)

It is, however, unclear as to which players the Catalans will be offering, with the likes of Ivan Rakitic, Nelson Semedo, Samuel Umtiti and Philippe Coutinho all facing the axe from Camp Nou.

The report also adds that Spurs have no intention of selling the two players this summer. So, Barcelona may have to look elsewhere to bolster their ranks.
