Jose Mourinho hails ‘beautiful’ bust-up between Hugo Lloris and Son Heung-min

Speaking after Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Everton in the Premier League on Monday, manager Jose Mourinho described the half-time bust-up between Hugo Lloris and Son Heung-min as ‘beautiful’.

The incident happened right as the players began to walk towards the dressing room at half-time. Lloris charged at Son, shouting at the South Korean for not tracking back an opponent, which led to a chance for Richarlison. Son retaliated at his captain and the pair were needed to be separated by teammates.

They seemingly worked things out in the dressing room as both were seen hugging in the tunnel just before the start of second half. While Lloris played down the incident post the match, manager Mourinho has taken a slightly different standpoint on the entire episode. (h/t ESPN)

“It’s beautiful. It’s probably as a consequence of our meetings. If you want to blame someone for that it’s me. I was critical of my boys. I asked them to be more demanding of each other. Son is an amazing kid, everybody likes Son but the captain told him you have to do more and give more to the team.”

Mourinho doesn’t want to win Fair Play Cup

Further elaborating on the mentality that he desires from his players, the Portuguese tactician stated that he didn’t want a team full of nice guys. (h/t ESPN)

“A team of good boys and nice boys the only thing they want to win at the end of the season is the fair play cup. And I’ve never been interested in winning that.”
