Tottenham offer lucrative £250k-a-week contract to PL star who Mourinho brought to England

Tottenham Hotspur offer Chelsea star Willian a lucrative deal

According to a report by Football Insider (h/t Daily Star), Tottenham Hotspur have offered Chelsea star Willian a lucrative offer to tempt him to shift to North London.

The Brazilian winger’s contract is up at the end of the season. His future is currently an open book and there appears to be no developments in him extending his stay at Chelsea.

The 31-year-old has earlier admitted that he and his family prefer to stay in London. Spurs can give him just that.

According to the report, Jose Mourinho has made the Brazilian a priority with Spurs ready to offer him an impressive £250,000-a-week in wages. Willian has also been offered a massive signing on fee if he decides to make the switch.

Mourinho brought in the Brazilian during his second spell at Chelsea. Seven years on, he could very well do the same at Spurs. Chelsea are keen to retain the winger but have so far not agreed to his demand of a three-year deal. Mourinho, on the other hand, is set to show the player more importance. (h/t Express)

The Portuguese tactician is well aware of the winger’s abilities and has a high opinion of him. Despite parting ways years ago, the duo has still kept in touch.

Willian has proven himself to be an effectively consistent player in the Premier League. He has made over 300 appearances while scoring 60+ goals and making 60+ assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)

A key aspect to be taken into account is the player’s fitness. Willian has incredibly missed just four games due to injury while at Chelsea. Given the exertions of the modern game, it is an extraordinary statistic.

With the club’s finances taking a hit due to the coronavirus pandemic, Spurs will have to be smart in the market. Willian offers a dependable option and in Mourinho they have someone who knows how to get the best out of him.

Whether the player can be convinced to switch his local allegiances or not remains to be seen.
