Southampton star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg wants to join Tottenham in the summer
According to a report from the Evening Standard, Southampton star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is keen on a summer switch to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 24-year-old is in the final year of his current contract with the Saints and has no intentions of signing an extension. This saw the South Coast club strip him of the club captaincy last month.
Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for the Danish international. Manager Jose Mourinho is intent on recruiting him as he eyes a defensive midfielder, after switching Eric Dier to a central defensive role. (h/t Evening Standard)
And now, the report claims that Hojbjerg, too, is keen on making the switch to Tottenham this summer. This ought to come as a huge boost for the club.
Hojbjerg has been with Southampton for four years now and has proven himself at the Premier League level. He played an integral role in the club’s revival after a disastrous start to the 2019/20 campaign. He helped them pull away from the relegation battle.
A proper defensive midfielder, he will be a major upgrade on our current options in the position, although it must be said that Harry Winks has been extremely impressive of late.

Nevertheless, it is important that the club strengthen in the summer after what has been a sub-par season. And Hojbjerg’s signing.
The fact that he prefers a switch to Tottenham should be seen as a big win, considering that the likes of Manchester City and Ajax were also lining up moves for him. Hopefully, Daniel Levy & co. are now able to close the deal and bring the Danish international to the club.
