Harry Kane dedicates Newcastle United victory to Serge Aurier
Posting on social media, Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has dedicated the team’s 3-1 win over Newcastle United on Wednesday to teammate Serge Aurier, who lost his brother earlier this week.
Christopher Aurier, 27, was shot dead outside a nightclub in Toulouse in the early hours of Monday morning. Serge, who had played the North London derby hours before the incident, did not train on the day and was given the option to return to France on compassionate leave by the club.
Aurier though, insisted on playing against Newcastle United and ended up completing 90 minutes on the pitch as we ran out comfortable 3-1 winners, courtesy goals from Son Heung-min and a Harry Kane double.
Following the game, Kane sent out a tweet in which he dedicated the victory to his teammate Aurier, who had decided to play despite the tragic incident.
That win was for you @Serge_aurier 💙 Very proud to reach 200 club goals. On to the next 200 ⚽️💯💯 pic.twitter.com/UM7LxfoHXK

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho, too, was full of praise for the Ivory Coast international for playing in spite of being given the option for a compassionate leave. (h/t Daily Star)
“Everyone reacts differently to tragedies and Serge is a special person. I think now it’s time for him to turn the page and go to his mum and support his family.”

Needless to say, Aurier showed great professionalism and dedication towards the club to feature against Newcastle in the face of the incident.
Following the match, he has flown to France and may miss the remaining two matches against Leicester City and Crystal Palace.
