Southampton hoping to land Kyle Walker-Peters in £10m deal
According to a report from The Sun, Premier League side Southampton are hoping to sign on-loan Tottenham star Kyle Walker-Peters on a permanent basis in a £10m deal.
The 23-year-old Walker-Peters came through the youth ranks at Tottenham and made his first-team debut under Mauricio Pochettino back in 2017. However, the Englishman was never quite able to establish himself as a regular at the senior level.
Having struggled for game time this season, especially once Jose Mourinho took over the reins in November last year, Walker-Peters was farmed out on loan to Southampton. And after a slow start to life at the South Coast club, the 23-year-old has suddenly put in a spate of impressive performances.
This has led to the club now wanting to make his transfer permanent. Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl had previously stated that the they would till the end of the season to make a decision on the transfer.
However, the Saints are now planning to close the deal at the earliest as they fear other clubs in the Premier League might try to sign the Tottenham star in the summer. To that end, they are now hoping to sign him up in a deal worth £10m.
The report further adds that Tottenham will sell the English right-back despite there being a lack of depth in the position.

There is also the possibility that Spurs use the 23-year-old as a makeweight in the deal to sign midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The former Southampton captain has been heavily linked with the club and now KWP could be used to bring his asking price down this summer. (h/t Guardian)
It looks like Walker-Peters’ time at Tottenham is nearing an end. It will be interesting to see if he used as part of a player-plus-cash exchange for Hojbjerg.
