Tottenham to make a move for Zeki Celik
According to a report from Sporon Dibi (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur are ready to a launch an attempt to sign Turkish right-back Zeki Celik from LOSC Lille this summer.
The 23-year-old Celik came through the youth ranks at Turkish club Bursaspor. He spent two years at Istanbulspor before making the switch Lille in 2018. Since moving to France, the right-back has grown into a key member of the club, making 68 appearances in which he has contributed with one goal and eight assists.
During the shortened 19/20 campaign in France, Celik turned out 32 times across all competitions, setting up three goals for his teammates.
This is not the first time Celik has been linked with a switch to Tottenham, with reports of Spurs’ interest in the 14-time Turkish international circulating a few months ago. And as per the latest update, Jose Mourinho and his recruitment team are intent on securing the 23-year-old’s services. (h/t Football.london)
The right-back slot is one where Tottenham need reinforcements this summer without question. We lost Kieran Tripper last summer and as things stand, Kyle Walker-Peters doesn’t seem to have a future, with him likely to shipped off to loan club Southampton permanently.
So, signing someone like Celik would be a smart move without a question. He has experience at this level and has some exposure to European football as well and is just 23.

Celik is expected to cost around €20-25m with three years remaining on his contract. Tottenham are not the only club interested in signing the Turkish international though. Serie A side Atalanta also keen on securing his services.
It remains to be seen if the interest in the 23-year-old leads to anything substantial in the coming weeks.
