Tottenham plotting swoop for Bournemouth’s Aaron Ramsdale
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Tottenham are eyeing a move for Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale as a potential backup for captain Hugo Lloris.
The 22-year-old joined Bournemouth in 2017 from Sheffield United. He had loan spells away at Chesterfield and Wimbledon, before becoming a regular part of the first-team in the ongoing campaign.
Till date, Ramsdale has featured 36 times in the Premier League this season, missing just one game. Although, he has kept just five clean sheets, the England U21 international has shown glimpses of his potential.
And now, Tottenham are considering making a move for the goalkeeper. (h/t Daily Mail)
The report states that the club are intent on adding quality competition to captain and first-choice goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. The veteran has looked rejuvenated since the season restarted last month after a shaky campaign. However, he is in the final year of his contract and given his age, needs to be phased out of the first-team slowly.
Ramsdale, to that end, might be a viable option. Although he has shipped in 61 goals this season, a lot of that can be attributed to a leaky defence shielding him. In spite of that, the 22-year-old has displayed that he can be a reliable customer between the sticks.
With Bournemouth staring at the prospect of relegation to the Championship, they could be forced to sell a number of their stars. That is something that Jose Mourinho & co. can capitalise on.

The report also adds that Tottenham are also looking at Watford’s veteran keeper Ben Foster as well as Fulham’s Marcus Bettinelli. Although, that could be for the third-choice slot, as Michel Vorm’s contract expires at the end of the campaign.
It, however, remains to be seen if the interest in Ramsdale leads to a formal approach.
