Southampton CEO Martin Semmens sends Tottenham message over Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg transfer
As reported by Hampshire Live, Southampton CEO Martin Semmens has sent a message to Tottenham Hotspur over the potential transfer og midfield star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The 24-year-old is in the final year of his contract with Southampton and has been heavily linked with a summer switch to Tottenham. However, recent reports have claimed that Everton have jumped ahead of us in the race to sign the Danish international.
But Southampton CEO Semmens has indicated that the Saints are yet to receive an offer that they seem suitable for their former captain. And if the interested teams don’t meet the valuation, the south coast club may end up keeping him at the club till his deal expires. (h/t Hampshire Live)
“It’s a difficult situation for him. There’s a club in the market that very much wants him. He’s aware of that, he’s waiting for that to happen – it’s not happened. We haven’t received a bit that is anywhere near our valuation.”
He also warned that Southampton won’t be hanging around till the end of the transfer window for Tottenham to come up with an offer. (h/t Hampshire Live)
“We won’t do that [wait until the end of the transfer window]. Pierre is committed to us and will stay here another year and play for us. He’s very, very clear about that. If there’s an opportunity for him then we’ll all take it.”
Semmens further went on to rule out a player-plus-cash exchange involving Kyle Walker-Peters, insisting that Southampton will treat both deals separately. (h/t Hampshire Live)

Hojbjerg is seen as the top transfer target by Jose Mourinho. Signing him would add more steel to our midfield department. Hopefully, the club is able to negotiate a deal at the earliest possible.
