Inter Milan reject Tottenham Hotspur’s swap deal proposal for Milan Skriniar
According to a report from TransferMarketWeb.com (h/t Express), Inter Milan have rejected Tottenham Hotspur’s offer of a swap deal involving Tanguy Ndombele and Milan Skriniar and will only consider cash offers for their defensive star.
Ndombele joined Tottenham last year in a club record transfer from French club Olympique Lyon. However, he has struggled to establish himself as a regular at the club. In fact, the midfielder has been a peripheral figure under Jose Mourinho, who has time and again criticised the Frenchman in public.
This has led to intense speculations over his future at the club, with Inter Milan expressing an interest in acquiring his services ahead of next season. Reports have even claimed that the Nerazzurri had already initiated talks with Spurs over the possibility of a transfer.
Although it has been since claimed that Tottenham are unwilling to sell Ndombele, an alternate report from TMW (h/t Express) offers a contradictory story on the entire saga. As per this update, Tottenham are open to selling the 23-year-old Frenchman, provided Inter Milan let defender Milan Skriniar move the other way this summer.
The 25-year-old Skriniar is one of the most coveted central defenders in Europe currently. The Slovakian international has been a rock at the back for Inter for a number of years now.
Given the poor record of our defence in the 2019/20 campaign, it goes without saying that the club needs to strengthen at the back. The need of reinforcements is further exacerbated by the fact that Jan Vertonghen has left the club after the expiry of his contract.
Skriniar, to that end, would be an excellent addition to the Tottenham squad. However, Inter Milan have reportedly rejected the possibility of a swap deal. Although, they would be open to a sale if a cash-only offer came along. (h/t Express)

Given Skriniar’s standing and the interest he is generating, Inter will demand a hefty sum for the defender. And the current financial situation is likely to make it difficult for Tottenham to land the centre-back.
