Emmanuel Adebayor labels Jose Mourinho the best coach in football
In an interview with AS, former Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor has claimed that current Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is the ‘best coach in the history of football’.
The 36-year-old Adebayor spent four years at Tottenham, having joined from Manchester City in 2011, initially on loan, before making the move permanent in 2012. Prior to that, the Togolese striker had spent time on loan at Real Madrid, where he worked with Jose Mourinho.
And while Adebayor did not see a lot of game-time at the Santiago Bernabeu, he has claimed that he loved working with Jose, insisting that the Portuguese is the best coach in football. (h/t AS)
“I love Mourinho, we had a great relationship and he was the one who brought me to Madrid, although it wasn’t easy for him to find a place for me in the side. The only trophy I have ever won was at Madrid with him. Now he’s at Tottenham and I wish him the best of luck. He is the best coach in the history of football.”
Mourinho took over the reins at Tottenham last November, following the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino. It hasn’t been all smooth sailing for the Portuguese tactician in his first season in charge at the club.
However, he did spark a recovery post-lockdown, ensuring that we finished sixth in the Premier League table, ensuring qualification to the UEFA Europa League for next season.
