Tottenham’s latest bid for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg accepted
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur have finally made a breakthrough in their attempts to sign Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, after the Saints accepted an offer worth £20m plus add-ons.
A transfer saga that has been going on for close to two months saw Hojbjerg stripped of the club captaincy by Southampton after he refused to extend his current contract that expires in 2021. (h/t Daily Mail)
Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for the midfielder for quite a while, but had been unable to agree on a transfer fee. (h/t Daily Mail)
This had allowed Everton to sneak through and make an attempt to sign the Danish international. And while the Saints had accepted an offer from the Toffees, Hojbjerg’s insistence on joining Tottenham meant that the deal did not progress. (h/t Daily Mail)
Reports earlier this week had claimed that Tottenham were closing in on sealing a transfer for the Dane. And now, the club has finally made a breakthrough in negotiations.
As per the report, Southampton have accepted an offer of £20m plus add-ons from Tottenham. It also goes on to claim that Hojbjerg as already agreed personal terms with the North Londoners, and the deal is expected to be finalised in the next few days. (h/t Daily Mail)

Hojbjerg’s addition ought to boost our squad a great deal. The midfielder, who turned 25 on Wednesday, should slot in seamlessly in the defensive midfield role and offer more solidity in the centre. His age means that the Dane will be a long-term addition to the side.
For a fee of £20m, his signing does feel like quite the bargain.
