AC Milan £9m short of Tottenham Hotspur’s valuation of Serge Aurier
According to a report from the Evening Standard, AC Milan are still some way off from meeting Tottenham Hotspur’s demands to sign right-back Serge Aurier this summer.
The 27-year-old Aurier has been linked with a switch to Milan for quite a while now. Negotiations between the two clubs have been ongoing. However, it seems like the two teams are still some way apart as far as transfer fee is concerned.
According to the report, Tottenham are demanding a transfer fee of around £22m for the Ivory Coast international. That is just a million shy of the £23m we had paid PSG to sign him up back in the summer of 2017. However, AC Milan, are currently, not willing to offer more than £13m, leading to an impasse. Aurier was a regular in the starting XI for the entirety of the 2019/20 campaign. He ended the season with two goals and eight assists from 42 appearances across all competitions. However, he was a major liability at the back for us and manager Jose Mourinho is now prepared to offload him in the ongoing transfer window. (h/t Evening Standard)
While that would leave us without a recognised right-back in the squad, Mourinho has his sights set on Turkish defender Zeki Celik to replace Aurier. (h/t Evening Standard)
However, Milan are still some way off from the club’s valuation of the Ivory Coast defender. And while they are attempting to drive down the asking price, at the same time they are looking at alternatives for the 27-year-old already. (h/t Evening Standard)

Tottenham completed the first signing of the summer as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg arrived from Southampton this week. Kyle Walker-Peters made the switch from Spurs to Saints in a separate deal.
While more incomings are expected, Mourinho needs to generate funds by offloading some players. With talks for Aurier still ongoing, we can only hope that Milan and Tottenham are able to arrive at an agreement soon.
