Jose Mourinho wants five more players after Hojbjerg signing
According to a report from Football Insider (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho is intent on signing five more players after the club completed the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Spurs completed the first signing of the summer on Tuesday, with Hojbjerg making the switch from Southampton. The Danish international joins for a fee of around £15m plus bonuses, signing a five-year deal with the club. (h/t Sky Sports)
Having now completed his first summer signing at the club, manager Jose Mourinho is on the lookout for five more additions before the window closes in October. (h/t Express)
The first of these signings would be in the goalkeeping department, where Jose is reportedly keen on securing a better backup to captain Hugo Lloris, having not been convinced by Paulo Gazzaniga. (h/t Express)
In addition, the manager is also keen on bringing in a new right-back and a centre-back, which is understandable given how poor our defence was last season. With Jan Vertonghen leaving and Serge Aurier linked with an exit as well, it is imperative that the club strengthen both the positions. (h/t Express)
Another key signing that Mourinho is targeting is a backup striker to provide cover for star forward Harry Kane. The report claims that the Portuguese is eyeing a versatile player, who could play across the frontline to bolster his attacking unit.
And finally, the manager wants to secure another attacking midfielder. It makes sense considering Dele Alli’s misfiring form last time out and the departure of Christian Eriksen back in January. (h/t Express)

However, any more incomings will have to come at the cost of sales. To that end, the club might look to offload as many as seven players. Fringe players Danny Rose, Juan Foyth and Cameron Carter-Vickers are all expected to leave, along with Aurier. (h/t Express)
In addition, midfield prospect Luke Amos will make his loan move to QPR permanent. The club will also consider offers for record signing Tanguy Ndombele and Erik Lamela. (h/t Express)
It makes sense that Daniel Levy will want to get rid of players before sanctioning moves for targets, considering the financial situation at the club. It, now, remains to be seen who Mourinho brings in over the coming weeks.
