Tottenham given boost in Timothy Castagne pursuit
According to a report from Football.london, Tottenham have been handed a big boost in their hunt for Timothy Castagne as Atalanta are closing in on the signing of a replacement for the Belgian.
The 24-year-old has been with the Serie A outfit since 2017, having signed from Belgian club KRC Genk. He has been fairly impressive during his time in Italy and put on a fine performance in the club’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash against PSG.
Castagne has been linked with a move to Tottenham for quite some time now. And it makes sense, considering our problems at the right-back slot.
Apart from Serge Aurier, Jose Mourinho doesn’t have any other natural right-back at his disposal currently. Even the Ivory Coast international is being linked with an exit. So, a new right-back has to be a top priority for the club now, after having brought in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Joe Hart.
Castagne, to that end, would be a wise addition. The Belgian international, valued at £18m, has hinted at a move to Tottenham in past. And now the wheels may be set in motion for a transfer as Atalanta are reportedly closing in on a replacement for the right-back.
Indeed, the Serie A outfit are close to completing the signing of Standard Liege full-back Mergim Vojvoda, which would pave the way for Castagne to leave the club. (h/t Football.london)

The club has made a positive start to the transfer window, with the arrivals of Hojbjerg and Hart. However, there is still a lot of work to be done, with the defence in need of strengthening while we also need a new backup striker for Harry Kane.
Hopefully, the club is able to tie up some more deals before the season kicks off in September.
