Tottenham urged to sign Callum Wilson by Darren Bent
As reported by Football.london, former Tottenham Hotspur striker, Darren Bent, has urged the club to make a move for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson in the current transfer window.
The Englishman has been with the Cherries since 2014 and has been a consistent source of goals for them year after year. However, the 28-year-old did not have the best of the seasons last time out, finishing with just 8 goals in 35 Premier League outings, as Bournemouth ended up getting relegated.
But, Wilson showed in the campaign before that, that he can be an asset to the team, when he finished with 14 league goals and 10 assists. The England international has been linked with a switch to Tottenham, given the dearth of options at Jose Mourinho’s disposal beyond Harry Kane.
And now, ex-Spurs star, Bent, has urged his former employers to land the Cherries’ ace this summer. (h/t Football.london)
“They need someone who’s an adequate backup to Harry Kane and Callum Wilson’s smart enough to understand to know he’s not going to go down there and play straight away. You never know, if Harry Kane gets injured and Wilson goes and starts smashing the goals in, we’ve got a fight on our hands.”
Tottenham have already made two signings this summer, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Joe Hart coming through the doors at the club. A striker must be next on the list for Mourinho & co., and Wilson would be a solid backup for Kane, given his proven track record in the Premier League.

However, Bournemouth will not not budge from their £30m valuation for their star striker. So, it will be interesting to see if Spurs heed Bent’s advice and go after him or identify alternative targets.
