Tottenham Hotspur interested in Real Madrid ace Sergio Reguilon
According to the Spanish publication Marca (h/t Daily Star), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Spanish defender Sergio Reguilon.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed a fruitful season on loan at Sevilla. He played a key role as the La Liga giants won the Europa League. His performances even saw him get named as the Spanish top-flight’s best left-back.
Reguilon’s performances have drawn the attention of a number of clubs across Europe. These include the likes of Juventus, Inter Milan, and Manchester United. (h/t Daily Star)
The 23-year-old was also a target for Chelsea as they looked to address a key position in their squad. With them signing Ben Chilwell, Spurs have an opportunity to steal a march in pursuit of Reguilon.
Having come through the Real Madrid youth system, Reguilon has made just 22 appearances for the Spanish side. Despite his impressive performances at Sevilla, a return to the Santiago Bernabeu could do him little good.
With the likes of Marcelo and Ferland Mendy ahead of him in the pecking order, Reguilon would be hard-pressed to make regular appearances for the club.
According to the report by the Daily Star, Real are not averse to selling him. Valued at £18million, he represents good value for money. For someone with an eye for such deals, Reguilon must represent a tantalizing prospect for Daniel Levy.
In Ben Davies, Spurs have a left-back who is dependable and consistent. However, adding Reguilon should be something the club must look at. With Europa League fixtures on the horizon, Spurs will need strength in depth to navigate through what could be a long season.
