Tottenham offered Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez
According to reputed journalist Duncan Castles, Tottenham Hotspur have been offered the chance to sign Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez from Spanish outfit UD Almeria.
Nunez started out at the academy of La Luz and spent time with San Miguel de Artigas before joining Penarol. The striker went on to feature 22 times for the Uruguayan outfit, scoring four goals in the process. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Last summer saw Nunez make the jump from Uruguay to Spain, as he signed for La Liga 2 side UD Almeria. In his debut season with the Spanish second division side, the 21-year-old plundered 16 goals and 3 assists in 32 matches. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Nunez has been linked with a Premier League switch to Southampton and Brighton. And now, journalist Duncan Castles has claimed that Tottenham, too, have been offered a chance to land the 21-year-old.
A new striker is of paramount importance for the club this summer, given how we struggled in the absence of Harry Kane last season.
Apart from the England captain, manager Jose Mourinho has no other centre-forward at his disposal. And while Son Heung-min and Steven Bergwijn can play through the middle, neither are natural strikers. That is something which needs to be addressed at any condition this summer.
Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson has been linked with a transfer to Tottenham. However, signing someone young and with immense potential like Nunez could be a good move by the club.

The 21-year-old showed immense potential in his debut season in Spain, albeit it was in the Spanish second division. And considering his age, he can polish his game further under the guidance of Mourinho.
It remains to be seen who the club decides to sign, but a new striker is a must this summer.
