Tottenham discover their opponents for the third round of Carabao Cup

Tottenham Hotspur drawn away to Leyton Orient or Plymouth Argyle in the Carabao Cup

As confirmed by the club’s official site, Tottenham Hotspur will face either Leyton Orient or Plymouth Argyle in the third round of the 2020/21 Carabao Cup.

The duo will face off in their second-round tie in the week commencing 14 September. The winners will then host us in the week commencing 21st September.

The draw was favourable to most of the Premier League sides. As of yet, the only Premier League matchup will see arch-rivals Arsenal travel to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City.

Spurs have won the competition four times in their history. The last of them came in 2008, where we defeated Chelsea. Incidentally, that was the last time we won silverware. Something Jose Mourinho will look to change.

Spurs also made the 2009 and the 2015 finals. We lost both times to Manchester United and Chelsea respectively. Mourinho was the opposing manager for Chelsea that night.

The Portuguese has won the competition four times, thrice with Chelsea and once with United. This puts him joint top with Sir Alex Ferguson and Brian Clough. Another victory will see him break away as the most successful manager in the competition.

If he leads us to the cup, Mourinho will receive the unique honour of having won the competition with three different teams.
