Bayer Leverkusen keen on signing Serge Aurier
According to the Metro, Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen are intent on signing Tottenham Hotspur defender Serge Aurier in the ongoing transfer window.
The 27-year-old joined Tottenham in the summer of 2017 from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth £23m. However, he had to wait until the 2019/20 season to become a permanent fixture in the starting XI, with Kieran Trippier leaving the club.
Aurier ended the previous campaign with two goals and eight assists from 42 appearances across all competitions.
The Ivory Coast international was impressive in the attacking side of things, but remained a major liability at the back. Tottenham are willing to offload him this summer, in order to generate funds to sign manager Jose Mourinho’s transfer targets. (h/t Metro)
AC Milan have been heavily linked with a move for the Ivory Coast international. But, now Bayer Leverkusen have also joined the race for the 27-year-old. The German outfit are in the market for a new right-sided defender and have identified Aurier, as well as Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin as targets. (h/t Metro)
The report goes on to add that Tottenham would be happy to accept offers around the £17m mark for the £70,000-a-week star.

Following the arrival of Matt Doherty from Wolves, Aurier will drop down the pecking order. With funds needed to sign transfer targets, offloading him at the earliest possible is pivotal.
We have already missed out on the signing of Timothy Castagne due to our failure to sell the Ivorian. Hopefully, the club can find a buyer for the former Paris Saint-Germain star as soon as possible.
