Villarreal interested in Tottenham ace Juan Foyth
According to Spanish publication AS (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth has emerged as a transfer target for La Liga giants Villarreal.
Foyth signed for Tottenham in 2017, from Argentine outfit Estudiantes. However, the 22-year-old has struggled to establish himself as a regular at the club. In fact, till date, he has made just 32 first-team appearances for the North London giants.
The versatile defender hardly featured in the 2019/20 campaign, especially once Jose Mourinho took over the reins at the club. While injuries played a part in his reduced game time, the player himself failed to make the most of the few chances that came his way.
This has seen him get linked with a summer exit from the club, with there being strong interest from newly-promoted Premier League side Leeds United.
As per the aforementioned report, now Villarreal are also showing an interest in signing the 22-year-old defender. The Yellow Submarine managed by former Arsenal boss Unai Emery have made the Argentine as their primary transfer target in the ongoing transfer window. (h/t Football.london)
Foyth hasn’t been able to carve out a place for himself at the club. Consider how sparingly he was used by Jose Mourinho, it is apparent that the defender is not in the manager’s plans. And given that we are in need to generate funds in order to sign players this summer, selling the Argentine makes sense.

With Foyth currently attracting interest from a number of clubs, it is best to strike when the iron is hot. Offloading him would aid us in funding moves for targets, with a new striker and a quality centre-back still the need of the hour.
