Real Madrid star Gareth Bale agrees to return to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

Real Madrid willing to pay half of Gareth Bale’s wages to seal exit

According to The Telegraph, Real Madrid are willing to pay up half the wages of Welsh superstar Gareth Bale in order to facilitate his exit from the the club this summer.

Bale has been with Real Madrid since seven years, having joined them from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013. Since then, the Welsh international has won a host of titles and trophies, but has been marginalised by current manager Zinedine Zidane.

Indeed, Bale rarely featured in Real Madrid’s La Liga title winning campaign last time out. Instead, it was his antics on the bench that caught the eye. In a recent interview, the winger made it clear that he wanted out of the club and also added that he would be open to a return to the Premier League. (h/t Mirror)

This has piqued the interest of former club Tottenham Hotspur, who are believed to be keen on signing the 31-year-old. However, Bale’s mammoth £600,000-a-week wages would be a major problem for the club, given the current financial situation. (h/t Mirror)

While this should reduce the strain on any club that signs him, half of his current wages would still be a lot of money. Especially in the current circumstances when Daniel Levy has had to take a massive loan in order to ensure smooth running of the club.

Signing Bale back would be a huge coup and Spurs fans will be delighted to have him back at the club, no doubt. Nevertheless, a move for him would take a lot out of the club in terms of finances. And unless he is willing to reduce his wages, it might not be the most prudent move.
