Everton manager provides injury update ahead of Tottenham clash
As reported by the club’s official website, Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has issued an injury update on four key players ahead of their season opener against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
Spurs welcome the Toffees to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first game of the 2020/21 Premier League campaign on Saturday.

It will be a difficult match for us, considering that the Merseysiders have strengthened their squad this summer, with the signings of Allan, James Rodriguez and Abdoulaye Doucore. Ahead of the game on Sunday, Ancelotti has issued an update on a number of his players.
The manager has confirmed that defender Mason Holgate will miss out, while midfielder Mason Holgate is a major doubt. However, they will be boosted by the return of key midfielder Andre Gomes, while Yerry Mina is also available. (h/t Liverpool Echo)
“Holgate is out, Mina I think is available, Gomes is available. They are going to check Delph tomorrow. I think the physical condition of the team is quite good, not at the top because pre-season was quite short.”
The absence of Holgate is bad news for the Toffees, given that he was their most reliable centre-back in the season gone by. His absence is something that could end up acting as a major boost for Tottenham on the evening.

After having just about finished sixth in the last season, it is very important that we start the season on a strong note. A win against a strong Everton side would set the tone for a busy period as we travel to Bulgaria for the UEFA Europa League second round qualifying fixture against Lokomotiv Plovdiv, before facing Southampton in the league.
