Burnley to make £8m move for Robin Quaison

According to the Daily Mail, Burnley are lining up an £8m move for 1.FSV Mainz 05 attacker Robin Quaison, who has been on the radars of Tottenham Hotspur.

The 26-year-old came through the youth ranks at AIK in his homeland Sweden. After 63 appearances, in which he scored eight goals, Quaison joined Italian side Palermo in 2014. In 70 games, the Swede managed eight goals for the club, before Mainz came calling in January 2017.

Since joining the German outfit, Quaison has found the back of the net on 28 occasions in 101 matches, while setting up eight more. The 26-year-old enjoyed a productive 2019/20 campaign, scoring 13 goals in 32 Bundesliga outings.

Quaison has started the new season with a bang as well, scoring and assisting a goal each in Mainz ‘s in DFB-Pokal clash against TSV Havelse.

A versatile operator, Quaison has largely been used as a second striker in his career, but he can play in the No. 10 role or on the left flank, while he also capable of featuring as a striker. Possessing speed, strength and good dribbling ability along with an eye for a goal, the 26-year-old would be an asset to any team with his flexibility.

Tottenham are reportedly keeping an eye out on the attacker, who has seven goals in 15 matches for the Sweden national team. However, it is Burnley who are set to make the first move for Quaison, with the Clarets set to make an £8m move, even though he has a buyout clause of around £14m.

Quaison, as mentioned previously, could be an asset with his versatile nature and goal-scoring ability. However, he doesn’t seem to be high on the radars of Tottenham. So, it is very much unlikely that the club will rival Burnley with an offer.
