Tottenham Hotspur could part ways with six players this summer

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur could sell up to six players this summer.

The North Londoners had enjoyed a relatively under the radar window. Early deals were wrapped up for Joe Hart, Matt Doherty, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Things have gotten frantic over the past couple of days and Tottenham are now on the verge of adding Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale, the latter on loan.

The club will now look to balance their books by letting go of players. According to the report, those in the firing line include Danny Rose, Juan Foyth, Paulo Gazzaniga, Serge Aurier &  Ryan Sessegnon.

Curiously, Ornstein mentions that the club is looking to move on these players in some form. It remains to be seen if this also includes loan deals.

Another player whose future is up in the air is Dele Alli. The 24-year-old is not necessarily on the sale list but could go if a good offer comes in.

In fact, Alli was offered to Real Madrid as a part of the Gareth Bale loan deal. Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane rejected the opportunity to sign him and the midfielder looks likely to stay on. (h/t Mirror)

Having lost the first game of the season to Everton, the additions of Reguilon and Bale have come at the right time. Hopefully, this is the start of something special as Jose Mourinho embarks on his first full season in charge.

Apart from Alli and possibly Sessegnon, none of the other four players can be deemed unexpendable. Getting rid of them will not just help us balance the books but also lower the wage bill.

Tottenham are also looking to bring in a backup striker. Doing so will finally put to rest what has been a glaring weakness in the squad. It promises to be a busy final three weeks for Spurs.
