Jack Clarke close to joining Birmingham City on loan
According to the Birmingham Live, Tottenham Hotspur youngster Jack Clarke is closing in on a loan move to EFL Championship side Birmingham City.
The 19-year-old Clarke joined Tottenham from Leeds United in July 2019 for a fee believed to be in the region of £10m plus add-ons. He was signed after enjoying a breakthrough season in 2018/19 at Elland Road and was immediately loaned back to the club.
However, a lack of game time under Marcelo Bielsa saw Tottenham recall him from Leeds and instead send him out on a temporary spell at QPR. The Englishman didn’t play much for the R’s either, featuring just seven times before the season ended.
Back at Tottenham, Clarke featured in the pre-season friendly against Birmingham. But, he wasn’t part of the matchday squad for our games against Everton and Lokomotiv Plovdiv.
Jose Mourinho already has plenty of options in the wide areas currently at his disposal. Add to that, the arrival of Gareth Bale will push him further down the pecking order at the club.
And thus, Spurs are set to loan him out for another season, with Birmingham City touted as the youngster’s next destination. (h/t Birmingham Live)

The 19-year-old is yet to make his first-team debut for Tottenham and it looks like he’ll have to wait for another year.
Nevertheless, considering that he would have spent the season playing for reserves if he would have stayed at the club, a loan move makes sense for the England U20 international. The experience will hold him in good stead and aide his progression and development.
