Tottenham failed with two proposals for Carlos Vinicius
According to Tvi24 (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur have made two proposals to sign Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius this summer, but fell short of the asking price.
It is no secret that Tottenham are in the market for a new striker, with Jose Mourinho not having any cover for star forward Harry Kane. This has see the club get linked with a host of names, with Benfica’s Vinicius being the latest addition. (h/t Football.london)
The 25-year-old started out at Brazilian giants Santos and had stints with Palmeiras, Caldense and Anapolis before joining Portuguese club Real SC in 2017. A year later, he joined Serie A giants Napoli, but was loaned out to Rio Ave and AS Monaco, before signing for Benfica permanently in 2019.
In his debut season with the Portuguese giants, Vinicius shone bright, racking up a tally of 24 goals and 13 assists from 47 games in all competitions.
Vinicius’ exploits have seemingly caught the eye of Tottenham, who have made two approaches to Benfica to land the 25-year-old Brazilian. However, both offers, the latest of which was around €30m was short of the Portuguese club’s valuation. (h/t Football.london)
Tottenham have done business with Benfica before, having signed Gedson Fernandes on an eighteen-month loan deal in January. And the Portuguese giants believe that an agreement can be reached for Vinicius as well. (h/t Football.london)

Vinicius is not the only Benfica striker linked with Tottenham. His club teammate and Switzerland international Haris Seferovic has also been touted as a target.
It remains to be seen if there is any real interest in either of the two Benfica strikers or just some rambling going in Portuguese media.
