Antonio Rudiger wants Tottenham Hotspur loan transfer
According to The Athletic, Chelsea defender, Antonio Rudiger is keen on joining Tottenham Hotspur on loan this summer, but the Blues are reluctant to let him join their direct rivals.
The 27-year-old has been with Chelsea since 2017, having joined from AS Roma. He had been a regular in the starting XI for the most part, although his game time took a beating last season due to injuries. In the ongoing season, however, the 27-year-old has dropped way down the pecking order and is yet to take the field even once.
Chelsea are open to leaving Rudiger this summer, with manager Frank Lampard already informing him that he is ‘surplus to requirements’. And, Tottenham are eyeing a loan swoop for the German defender. (h/t Evening Standard)
And as per the latest update from The Athletic, Tottenham are not the only club in the running to sign the former AS Roma star. Indeed, the likes of AC Milan, Inter Milan, Roma and Barcelona have all also expressed an interest in the Germany international.
However, the report goes on to add that Rudiger himself would prefer to stay in London and join Tottenham on a season-long loan move. Chelsea, though, are reluctant to let him join the Lilywhites as they would be strengthening a direct rival. Furthermore, relations between the two London clubs have soured during the Roman Abramovic era.
Having signed Carlos Vinicius on Friday night, Tottenham are now looking to add one more player before the transfer window closes. A new centre-back is a much-needed addition at the club, considering that we lost Jan Vertonghen at the end of the last season.
