Reputed journalist and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur defenders Juan Foyth and Ryan Sessegnon are on the verge of leaving the club on loan.

Foyth has been with Tottenham since 2017, having arrived from Argentine club Estudiantes. However, the versatile defender has struggled to carve out a place for himself in the side. The 22-year-old hardly featured last season owing to injuries and hasn’t been part of any matchday squad this season either.

So, it had become quite clear that the Argentine international that he wasn’t part of Jose Mourinho’s plans moving forward. And now, Romano has confirmed that Foyth is closing in on an exit from the club.

The 22-year-old is on the verge of joining on Villarreal on a season-long loan deal. The La Liga outfit will have the option of making the transfer permanent for a fee of €15m next summer.

Along with Foyth, fellow defender Ryan Sessegnon is also closing in on an exit. The 20-year-old arrived last summer from Fulham, but struggled with injuries and didn’t enjoy the backing of manager Mourinho.

The Englishman, much like Foyth, hasn’t featured even in a single game this term. And with the club recruiting Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale, his chances at the back and in the attack took a major hit. So, loaning him out was the best possible course of action for all parties involved.

And, as per Romano, he is now on his way to Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim.
