Ryan Sessegnon joins TSG Hoffenheim on a season-long loan
As confirmed by the club’s official Twitter, Tottenham Hotspur youngster Ryan Sessegnon has completed a season-long loan move to Bundesliga outfit TSG Hoffenheim on the deadline day.
The 20-year-old had joined Tottenham last summer from Fulham, but failed to settle in at the club. Injuries hampered his progress throughout the campaign, while he never really enjoyed the backing of manager Jose Mourinho.
In the end, Sessegnon featured just 12 times over the course of his debut campaign at Tottenham. The defender’s prospects hadn’t improved in the new season either as he was yet to feature for even a single minute in any competition. In fact, he made the matchday squad just once up until this point.
With the arrivals of Sergio Reguilon, his opportunities at left-back took a major hit. And with Gareth Bale also signing, the 20-year-old was way down the pecking order for a place in the attacking third as well.
So, it made total sense that the club would want to loan him out in order to aid his development. There had been a number of interested parties to secure Sessegnon’s signing, including Scottish champions Celtic.
However, it is Hoffenheim where the youngster is headed to, with the club sharing the confirmation of the loan deal on Twitter.
Ryan Sessegnon has joined Bundesliga side Hoffenheim on loan for the remainder of the 2020/21 season.
