Jose Mourinho ready to play two upfront at Tottenham Hotspur
According to the Evening Standard, Jose Mourinho is ready to play two players upfront for Tottenham Hotspur.
Harry Kane has been the club’s undisputed choice up front over the last few years. With Carlos Vinicius now at the club, Spurs have a dependable deputy to call upon if needed.
The Brazilian started our Europa League tie against LASK yesterday. While he may not have gotten on the scoresheet, his two assists showcased the impact he can have on the team.
According to the report, Mourinho does not see Vinicius as merely a capable deputy. He believes the Brazilian can form a potent partnership alongside Kane once he settles in well.
“He can even play with Harry Kane when his good period arrives.”
Vinicius joined Spurs on a season-long loan from Portuguese giants Benfica. He arrived on the English shores as last season’s top scorer in the Primeira Liga. It would appear that the title was well earned.
While the 25-year-old enjoyed a good debut, Mourinho believes the striker can do even better. Mourinho has christened him as a good target man capable of performing when needed.
“He is still in a learning process, Vinicius can be much more than this.”
