Tottenham Hotspur duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min close in on Premier League record
Tottenham Hotspur duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min were once again at it against Burnley at Turf Moor on Monday night.
With the Clarets giving us plenty of trouble, our two chief goal-getters combined once again to ensure we came away with all three points. The win sees us climb to within two points of the summit with six games gone.
The winner came when Kane’s flicked header was put in by Son. This was the seventh time this Premier League season that Kane has provided an assist for Son.
The duo has been in prolific form this season and could yet break a number of records by the time the current campaign ends.
No player has provided more than seven assists for another player in a Premier League season this decade. Kane has equalled that record in just six games this season. With 32 more to go, he might as well set up a number previously thought insurmountable.
According to Goal (h/t Forbes), the Spurs duo are also well on course to break Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba’s impressive Premier League record for Chelsea.
The Blues duo combined for a record 36 goal combinations during their time at Stamford Bridge. Kane and Son’s blistering start has seen them move up to second spot with 29 goal contributions.
They currently share the spot with Arsenal duo Thierry Henry and Robert Pires, and Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero and David Silva. The Spurs duo could make the position their own as early as Sunday when we face Brighton.

Both Kane and Son have improved their game several notches under Mourinho. They have also evolved their abilities. The most prominent being the former’s ability to create more.
The season is still nascent and yet records continue to tumble. It remains to be seen what they can achieve come the end of the campaign. Hopefully, there will be more than just individual accolades for fans to celebrate.
