Jamie Carragher backs Tottenham Hotspur for Premier League success
According to The Mirror, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher would welcome Tottenham Hotspur winning the English Premier League this season.
The former England defender, however, still has us behind his beloved Merseysiders in the race to finish as champions. Spurs are currently in fifth spot, two points off the top.
“I’d love to see Mourinho win – if Jurgen didn’t.”
Winning the Premier League is nothing new for Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese tactician has already won the competition thrice, all of them at Chelsea.
A hard-fought win at Burnley has reignited hopes that Spurs could launch a bid at securing the title. Carragher believes such a result would vindicate Mourinho, who he believes has been unfairly ostracized in recent times.
“I want Liverpool to win the league, obviously but I’d love to see Mourinho win again.”
Mourinho’s confrontational style has its own share of lovers and haters. He often has a habit of fubbing off opponents the wrong may leading to him being seen as an antagonist.
“I think it would be a good story in some ways for Mourinho to do that again.”
The competition!
While talk of a title push may have seen fanciful even a year ago, Carragher may be onto something here. Spurs have strengthened well in the summer with the new players already adapting well to Mourinho’s system.
Manchester City have lost their aura while Chelsea still need time to get their bearings right. Manchester United lack a manager who is good enough to beat the best while the less said of Arsenal the better. Defending champions Liverpool are likely to be the biggest threat once again this season.
The loss of Virgil van Dijk is a huge loss for them. But for a team that thrives on adversity, we would be foolish to dismiss them. If there is one person who can take advantage of the mess around us, it is Mourinho.

A fourth title will vindicate a man who has been unjustly criticized for what he did at Manchester United. Winning the title at Spurs while they watch on, would be the ultimate revenge.
If we succeed, Mourinho will become the first manager to win the Premier League with two different teams. Another reason why he is called the special one.
