Steven Bergwijn backed to match Son Heung-min’s success at Tottenham
Speaking to Football Insider (h/t Football.london), former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent has claimed that Steven Bergwijn has what it takes to replicate Son Heung-min’s exploits at the north London outfit.
Bergwijn joined Tottenham in January earlier this year from Dutch club PSV Eindhoven. The forward made an instant impact upon arrival and played a vital role in Spurs achieving a top-six finish in the Premier League last season.
However, he has found it hard to get regular game time in the new campaign. Indeed, the 23-year-old has just started one Premier League game so far this season. And in nine appearances across all competitions, Bergwijn is yet to score a goal and has contributed with two assists.
Bent, though, is of the belief that the Dutchman can be Tottenham’s Son Heung-min 2.0 if he is given a proper run in the side by Jose Mourinho. (h/t Football.london)
“What they need to do is give him a run of games because at the minute the only ones we see get a run of games are Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son and that’s why we see the very best of them. If he played 10 games in a row, we’d see the best of Bergwijn.”

We all know and saw what Bergwijn can do last season, with the Dutchman putting in some fine performances against the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United.
While he may not have played all that much so far, the season is long and there are plenty of games to come. So Bergwijn just has to bide his time and strike when the opportunity comes his way.
