Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho uncomfortable at Gareth Bale working with Arsenal coach
According to The Guardian, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho is unhappy that Gareth Bale will be under the supervision of an Arsenal coach while away on national duty.
Now fit, Bale was included in the Wales squad to face USA, Finland and Ireland. However with Ryan Giggs suspended, assistant coaches Robert Page and Albert Stuivenberg will take charge.
The latter is also on the payroll of our arch-rivals Arsenal. This has led to Mourinho’s tirade against the situation.
“It doesn’t make me very comfortable. National team matches should have coaches that work exclusively for them, not coaches who work for other clubs.”
The Spurs boss believes coaches should work exclusively for countries without taking up positions in club football. Although not explicitly stated, it does hint at a conflict of interest.
Bale suffered a knee injury during Wales’ win over Bulgaria in September. He has since returned to fitness at Tottenham.
Given his role at the club, Mourinho’s fears are understandable. The prospect of losing the player to another injury, especially after having him back, would be frustrating.
“He’s working so much and we’re all working so carefully with him that we don’t want to destroy the work everybody is doing for the last couple of months. If they care as much about him as we do, they have to manage the recovery period.”

Hopefully, the fears are unfounded and everyone involved will be able to do their jobs professionally. Heaven forbid Bale gets injured again. One would not want to face Mourinho if he is proven right.
