Gareth Bale admits to coronavirus concerns after Wales vs Ireland clash
As reported by Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale has admitted that he is concerned about contracting the coronavirus after coming in contact with Matt Doherty.
Bale faced off against Doherty when Wales clashed against the Republic of Ireland in the UEFA Nations League this past weekend. Post the game, it was confirmed that the Tottenham right-back had tested positive for coronavirus and is suffering from mild symptoms. (h/t Daily Mail)
Bale came in contact with Doherty during the game while the pair were pictured hugging post the match as well. And, the 31-year-old has revealed that he had concerns after having come in contact with Doherty and James McClean, who also tested positive. (h/t Sky Sports)
“It’s a slight concern for everybody when you’ve been playing someone and you’re in close contact with them on the field. Maybe you’re not long enough with them to catch it, but you’re a bit wary.”
But the good news is that all of Wales’ players, including the Tottenham trio of Bale, Ben Davies and Joe Rodon, have tested negative for the virus ahead of their Nations League game against Finland, which has come as a relief for the 31-year-old. (h/t Sky Sports)
“It’s good news that everyone’s come back and tested negative and now we can just concentrate on the game on Wednesday.”
