Gareth Bale backed to take Tottenham to next level by Steve McManaman

As reported by Football.london, former Liverpool footballer and legend Steve McManaman has claimed that Gareth Bale can take Tottenham to another level if he stays fit for the course of the season.

The 31-year-old Welshman returned to Tottenham this past summer, seven years after having left for Real Madrid. Bale has rejoined Spurs on a season-long loan for 2020/21, putting an end to his troubled spell in the Spanish capital.

Since returning to the club, Bale has had a few fitness issues but has slowly started to get into his stride. The Welsh wing wizard scored an important goal against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League and has impressed in subsequent games against Ludogorets and West Bromwich Albion.

“If he stays fit and he plays 40 or 45 games for Tottenham, he’ll definitely score 20-odd goals, and you just cannot buy those types of numbers. If he stays fit, he’ll certainly elevate Tottenham to another level in the Premier League and other competitions this season.”

The ex-Liverpool and England winger then went on to add that Bale will have a point to prove after a difficult end to his time at Real Madrid. He further insisted that the 31-year-old will prove to be a brilliant signing for the north London outfit. (h/t Football.london)

“I think it’s a brilliant signing for Tottenham.”
