Chelsea great Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink backs Tottenham to win the Premier League

Speaking to Ladbrokes, as carried by The Sun, former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has tipped Tottenham Hotspur to win the Premier League this season.

After losing on the opening day of the season against Everton, Tottenham have gone unbeaten in the league. We currently sit second in the Premier League table, having racked up 17 points from eight matches so far.

Jose Mourinho’s men are currently just a point shy of league leaders Leicester City, leading to talks of a potential tilt at the title. And now, Hasselbaink, who tasted a lot of success at Chelsea, has tipped Spurs to come out on top in the race for the title. (h/t The Sun)

“I fancy – and this might hurt Chelsea supporters – Spurs for the title. I really do. It should be – if you look on paper – Tottenham’s year.”

Hasselbaink then went on to elaborate on the reasons why he considers us favourites for the title. The Dutchman claims in Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Gareth Bale, Tottenham have one of the best attacking trios, according to him, while there is quality on the bench in the form of Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn and Carlos Vinicius. Hasselbaink also spoke glowingly of our options in midfield, before stating that while we might have problems in defence, the rest of the title challengers also had similar problems. (h/t The Sun)

“The only area where they struggle a little bit is at centre-half, and maybe right-back. But if you look at all the teams in the league, Liverpool have problems at the back. Man City have problems at the back. So do Chelsea and Man United.”

Hasselbaink makes some very good points and while it might be too early to call a favourite in the title race, if we can keep up this kind of form, we should be right up there come May.
